Château de Pommard releases its new 2020 organic vintage

Born from a geological marvel, the Clos Marey-Monge.

Château de Pommard is proud to release its 2020 Clos Marey-Monge cuveés, the second vintage to receive organic certification from French certifier Bureau Veritas and accredited by the INAO (National Institute of Origin and Quality). Over the past few years, the Château has been committed to producing better-tasting wines by converting its 20-hectare vineyard to organic and biodynamic practices.

“2020 is a highly-regarded vintage here in Burgundy and is considered one of the best,” says Paul Negrerie, Winemaker at Château de Pommard. “Our Clos Marey-Monge 2020 organic wines are so energetic. They display a lovely palette of aromas and flavors. They’re just the purest expression of the terroir they come from.”

The six 2020 Clos Marey-Monge organic wines are available for sale directly at the Château, on the website, through a private client sales team, and at fine wine retailers and restaurants around the world. Château de Pommard releases three six-bottle collections, now being sold at special en primeur prices through September 30, 2022, to celebrate this new organic certification and the magic of working in harmony with Nature. The ‘Clos Marey-Monge Terroirs 2020’ collection ($701.00/$630.90) samples the five distinct wines from each plot of Château de Pommard’s vineyard and its signature Monopole blend. The ‘Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2020’ collection ($1,038.00/$934.20) includes six bottles of the flagship cuvée. Lastly, the ‘Clos Marey-Monge Vintage’ collection ($885.00/$796.50) presents a vertical lineup of the Monopole blend from the 2015 to 2020 vintages.

Visitors of the Château can now enjoy a new Clos Marey-Monge Tasting focusing on the newly released organic vintage compared with previous vintages. During this tasting experience (six wines, one hour, 41€ per person), guests will discuss the challenges and triumphs of converting a 20-hectare vineyard to organic and biodynamics and the importance of the soil composition in making better-tasting wines with one of the Château’s certified and passionate Wine Advisors.

Since becoming owners of Château de Pommard in 2014, the Carabello-Baum family has emphasized the importance of transitioning the wine industry to more responsible and sustainable winemaking methods.  The family is working on a significant transformation plan to ensure Château de Pommard flourishes for another 300 years.
